Santa Monica-based LifeCrowd, the social activities website headed by Bong Koh, announced its $5M initial funding round today. The startup, which offers up a website which helps consumers find fun activities in their local area, said the funding came from Lightbank, the venture arm of the founders of Groupon, as well as Bullpen Capital, Baroda Ventures, and Prism VentureWorks, as well as local venture accelerator MuckerLab. As part of the funding, a representative from Lightbank will take a seat on LifeCrowd's board. LifeCrowd's online site helps users connect with local experiences, including classes, excursions, groups, and much more, and also includes a number of social features and connections to sites such as Facebook. Examples of some current activities offered on LifeCrowd include "Wine-O Bingo with the Wine Anti-Snob", "Count Cards Like a MIT Pro While Drinking!", "Cigar Pairing with Beer Flight", and "Board Games + Cocktails = Everyone Wins".
